Making this selection when you have ordered an embosser tells us that you would
prefer a four year embosser to the permanent embosser.

Here is a list of the elements of the permanent embosser:

  • Name of the notary
  • The notary's county
  • The word "California"
  • The words "Notary Public"
  • The middle includes an outline of California

Here is a list of the elements of the four year embosser:
  • Name of the notary
  • The notary's county
  • The word "California"
  • The words "Notary Public"
  • Commission ending date
  • Commission number
  • The middle includes the state seal.

As a default, we include the permanent embosser when a embosser is ordered.
We do that for several reasons. First, because there are fewer elements, each
element on the embosser is larger and easier to see. Second, since the embosser
cannot be used in place of the notary stamp, the commission number and expiration
date are not needed. By omitting these elements, the printed seal and the embossed
information cannot be separated and used on two documents. Third, the permanent
embosser does not need to be replaced at each four year interval. This saves the
notary money and also causes less waste to the environment.

If you still believe a four year embosser is best for your needs, choose this option
and a four year embosser will be made during the manufacturing process.
