We recommend a permanent embosser and include it with the kit. You may request a four-year embosser if you prefer. What is the difference: The four year embosser simulates a notary stamp. It has your name, county, commission number, and commission expiration date. The center has the state seal. When you renew your commission in four years, you get a new embosser. The permanent embosser has your name and county. The center has an outline of the state. Both embossers have the words "Notary Public" and "California". The reason that we recommend a permanent embosser is because you don't have to replace it every four years. Is it legal? Yes, because an embossed seal cannot be used in place of your ink notary seal. It doesn't matter what information the embosser has. The embosser is used for documents going to a foreign country or when you want to emboss a form and attach separate notary wording - the embosser ties the pages together. The gold seals are used primarily for documents leaving the country and make the document appear more official. Your notary customer will like this. It is primarily a marketing tool. The embosser can be placed in the desk holder to make it easier to use the embosser. You can now emboss by pressing down on the embosser's top handle instead of squeezing the two handles together. The hard plastic case is handy for carrying the embosser and slips easily into your notary tool bag. |
